Who knew there was an organization called National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NLGCC)? I for one was delighted. I learned about it from an email that was forwarded to the Integrity Canada Yahoo list. It seems that an organization called the American Family Association is peeved that McDonalds apparently gave some money to this "unholy" organzation, NLGCC. They're mounting a campaign to email McDonalds about their DISpleasure. They have their own website set up that sends emails to the corporate structure of McDonalds expressing their "Christian" outrage that the founder of "special sauce" would support illicit sex by perverted individuals... or some such version of that thought.
Someone named Glenn on the list suggested we "beat them [AFA] at their own game!" I thought it was a good idea. Email McDonalds with our DELIGHT that they've supported an organization like the NCGCC. Now before you all get on me about the evils of Big Mac's, let me point out that McDonalds has salads, fruit, fruit and yogurt and it IS possible to make those choices instead of the "fatty" ones... but I digress.
I thought we should bypass the AFA's email system on the off chance they're filtering the "pro" emails out. So here's a link to an email communications directly to McDonald's corporate. Email McDonalds I have no idea if this is even true! So I told McDonalds that if they did.... good for them! If it's not true, they should consider it. Why not? They're being vilified for it anyhow!
Will our emails overpower the haters? I don't know. But mine went one to one with one of theirs today. And I've got a suspicion that when they get ours with heartfelt text in each email instead of their "form letter" displeasure, they'll count ours as thoughtful and important to listen to. So click on that link and let McDonalds know you're not a hater. We need to support corporations who support equal rights for all people. Their silence has supported hate for decades. Let's give them a pat on the back for doing the right thing. (Yes... this is what they ought to do anyhow but they need a little 'atta boy' now and then.")
And check out the NCGCC while you're at it. GREAT resources for small business on their site as well.
